Olympic Day 2026: Seniors Shine, Faculty Stuns, and Everyone Brings the Spirit

Friday’s Olympic Day was packed with excitement, competition, and unforgettable performances, showcasing the energy and creativity of every class—and a few faculty surprises.

Seniors dominated the day, claiming top honors in both girls and boys tug of war as well as the relay race. Their supremacy in the events translated into the highest overall score, 9,800 points, cementing their first-place finish. Faculty, however, weren’t far behind, earning 5,300 points and coming in an impressive second place overall. Notably, faculty members claimed stunning victories in Hungry Hippos, keeping the crowd on their toes.

The lip sync competition was a highlight, delivering show-stopping performances from every class. Juniors impressed with a homage to TikTok Clash Royale videos and the stage fighting prowess of Kyle Mosha, Liam Ray, Delaney Hovan, and Tyler McClelland. Seniors brought the house down with a Just Dance lip sync, led by Bella Salyards and Drew Ketvertis, which kicked off with controllers in hand and ended in a spectacular light show of “fireworks” that launched thousands of glow bracelets and trinkets across the gym floor. Sophomores also turned heads with their Broadway-inspired lip sync, featuring CC Thomas as Elphaba, later replaced by class president and Padua camera enthusiast Cole Mangano. Freshmen made a strong debut with a solid lip sync compilation and semi-final wins in both tug of war and wig snatching.

One of the day’s most memorable moments was the sibling showdown between senior Brayden Mordarski and his sophomore brother Evan. Father Bill, new to the event but a willing participant in musical chairs, was delighted by his unexpected run to the finals. “I would have gone farther, but… I didn’t want to get hurt!” he laughed.

As always, the faculty saved a show-stopping performance for last, delivering a “Pitch Perfect” medley that started with the classic cup routine and featured Ms. Herlihy in a solo lip sync. The performance continued with Mrs. Kozarik, Miss Malloy, and Mrs. Schepis, earning enthusiastic applause from the entire gym.

Other standout performances included freshman wig snatching wins against older classes, sophomore and junior tug of war battles, and the spirited contributions to the Spirit Contest DO IT. Across the day, every class showed determination, creativity, and teamwork, making this year’s Olympic Day a celebration to remember.
