Adriana Kalivoshko, a student at Padua Franciscan who is in the class of 2025’s top ten highest GPAs, spoke to the BBN last week about different study tips, as well as advice she has for underclassmen.
“I think that it is important to keep the same amount of motivation throughout all of high school, not just during upperclassmen years.“
Being in the academic top 10 in high school is a monumental accomplishment. It shows dedication, effort, and hard work. Kalivoshko is involved in a lot of extracurricular events, such as Key Club, Girls Lacrosse, and LLS. When speaking on how she balances school work and extracurricular events, she says, “I try to plan what assignments I do according to what my schedule looks like. If I know I have a lot of extracurricular activities on a certain day, I try to complete assignments before their due date to make my life easier.”

Kalivoshko has a lot of advice for the underclassmen at Padua: “I think that it is important to keep the same amount of motivation throughout all of high school, not just during upperclassmen years. Starting off strong helps set a framework for the rest of your education. Even if you didn’t have the best start in freshman year, that shouldn’t stop you from working hard to succeed.”
Another big piece of advice that she gave was what she does to help her focus while studying. “The thing that helps me the most while studying is keeping my phone away from me. The only time I will have it by me while working is if I absolutely need help from my classmates. As for studying, repetition helps me so I will either repeatedly study a quizlet/set of flashcards or I will read things out loud.”
One last word of advice that Kalivoshko had was to take CCP classes. She said “For the most part the class allowed me to work at my own pace, and I found it easy to complete the assignments. It also opened up my schedule to other electives or study halls.”
