Olympic Week is Underway, and Juniors are Winning!

All four classes and the faculty competed Monday afternoon in Padua’s first ever Olympic Week preliminary event — the Ping Pong tournament. Ladies played singles and men played doubles in an exciting set of matches that resulted in wins for the Junior Class boys team and the faculty girls.

Brayden and his partner Peche first defeated seniors Matteo Dabramo and Kyle Dodig before moving up to play sophomores Josh Dodig and Liam Ray.  Then they took on the faculty team of Mr. Jennrich and Mr. Meeson to win the gold.

In the girls bracket, sophomore Kate Becker dominated in her match against freshman Briana Weber, and then beat out junior Madeline Chojnacki to take on the faculty’s female challenger, Mrs. Simna.  However, in a dramatic upset, Mrs. Simna won the match and 10 points for the Faculty Olympic Week score.  But sophomores still earned 10 points for both of Kate’s early wins.

“This was a GREAT way to kick off the preliminaries,” Mrs. Simna remarked at the end of the tournament.  “And kudos to all the sponsoring junior class officers who showed up to run, support, and cheer on the tournament to its exciting conclusion.

Today the festivities continue after our Testing Day with Greek Day, where students are already sporting some amazing Greek God and Goddess ensembles as well as a ton of collegiate Greek-Week wear. After school, Spike Ball Tournament participants AND spectators should report to the gym.

On Thursday, choose your favorite decade and mirror it into your outfit because it’s Decades Day! After school, there will be a Pie Eating Tournament.

Finally, the day that we have been waiting for on Friday will finally happen; Olympic Day! Students and faculty will wear their class color and it will be a dress down as well. At the end of the day, Padua will hold its annual Olympic Day with the various different games and of course, the class lip syncs.
