Padua’s Robotics Team scores major personal victories and several “firsts” at Lorain Robotics Competition

Padua’s Robotics Team won the Create Award at the Lorain Robotics meet this past weekend. Major accolades go to moderators Mr. Morel and Mrs. Morgan, along with senior leadership Alex Hrytsyuk, Louis Dondetti, Andrew Camarati, Isabel Svec, and the rest of the team for demonstrating superb engineering skills in the face of multiple obstacles, and achieving special merit in creative robotics design. The team also made it to the semi-finals.

Faculty moderator Joseph Morel, had plenty of accolades for his students competing this season. “The Robotics Team continues to achieve new milestones this year: our first year making playoffs multiple times, our first playoff matches won, our top finish ever, and our first trophy.”
Robotics is one of many clubs at Padua, and is comprised of some the school’s most gifted programmers. Junior member Brayden Mordarski appeared on the BBN last semester to talk a bit about his experiences on the team, and how much he enjoys the camaraderie, the friendships, and the challenges each season. “It’s a different game every year so every year we have to create a new robot…this robot had to pick up rings that were on the field and then had to actually place them on these moveable goals.” Co-moderator Amy Morgan adds that her sentiments for this team are very simple: “Hard Work Pays Off! The dedication these kids have is just like playing sports! This is their sport! They are here after school because they want to be and they achieved this success because they put in the work!”
Robotics will compete once again in future competitions coming up and are hopeful for more successes down the road.
