BBN launches its long-awaited “Writer’s Nook”

After months of website construction and gathering submissions, the Bruin Broadcast Network website has officially launched the “Writer’s Nook,” a digital collection of prose and poetry composed by Bruins of all ages. Originally announced in the fall, this brand new archive on the BBN website is now home to some truly excellent works of fiction and verse, submitted via google form on the “Forms and Submissions” page, curated by both student and staff editors, and compiled for your reading enjoyment.

“I’m excited to see this idea come to life,” says Padua freshman CC Thomas, who helped develop the concept along with Mrs. Simna. In the fall, students may remember an email from Thomas, who wrote, “Calling all Bruins yearning for their finest works to be shared with the world— your time has come! An all-new, completely digital version of creative writing club is being released, and its virtual shelves are already being stocked.” Thomas’s metaphor is spot-on, and especially for students who have lamented Padua’s former (and now defunct) Creative Writing Club, the BBN is excited to offer this stress-free, first-of-its kind, Virtual Club.

“Clubs at Padua somewhat exist in a vacuum,” says Simna, who serves as the BBN Director and will act as the club’s moderator for the time being. “They do remarkable things, but the rest of the student body rarely hear about it or get to experience it first hand. This club is one-of-a-kind. No real meetings or events to speak of, but content to share with the entire student body. Our creative and gifted writers have rarely had that kind of reach or engagement before, so we’re really excited.”

Submissions to the Writer’s Nook are now open and ongoing, with a processing time of 3-5 days from the date of your entry.
